The Borough of Scarborough is a really special place with its variety of landscapes, vibrant towns, charming villages, stunning coastline and vast open moorland.
We want to keep the Borough special for our residents and also for the millions of visitors that come here every year and you can help by reducing the impact you have on the local environment.
Dispose of your litter carefully – litter can make the place look messy and it can also be dangerous to wildlife.
- Use the street recycling bins in Scarborough, Whitby and Filey
- If you have glass bottles you can recycle them in our bottle banks located in over 60 of our public and Supermarket car parks.
- or better still, take your rubbish away with you and recycle anything you can when you get home
- And if you are staying in self-catering properties, remember to place your plastic bottles, cans, paper and card in the blue bins. Do not use these bins for glass.
Clear up after your dogs – you can even buy biodegradable dog bags from any of our Tourist Information Centre.
Please don’t feed the gulls – it creates a mess, encourages the birds to abandon their normal behaviour and chips aren’t good for them anyway!
Keep the coast special and leave it as you found it for others to enjoy.
